 History of  Department :

Ultrasonography services stand in this college way back in 1992.   X – ray and other radiographic procedures were being carried out before that.   First CT – scan machine started in 2001 and new high end machine is functional since 2012. MRI started in 2008

Special facility :

We are priviledged to have state of art 128 slice Siemens CT scan machine in radiology at G.M.C.H. Miraj , one of its kind in south Maharashtra and adjoining districts of north Karnataka , konkan and nearby marathwada region.

- e – Poster presentation on ‘Single centre experience of Aortic Stent Graft in Traumatic rupture of the thoracic aorta’ at the 15 th annual conference of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Conference held from 14 th to 17 th February 2013 , at Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital , Coimbatore.
-Presented and received first prize for an interesting case of ‘Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm involving left coronary sinus with rupture into left ventricle with non – ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm involving right coronary sinus with Myocardial bridging involving left circumflex artery ‘ at the programme organized by Indian Radiology and Imaging Association , Tamilnadu.
-Participated in poster presentation on ‘Role of Ultrasound Elastography in differentiation of benign versus malignant cervical lymph nodes’ at the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association conference held in Coimbatore in 2013.
-Scientific paper presentation at RSNA 2014 , Chicago(USA) : ‘’ All that blue is not malignant’’ :Role of ultrasopund elastography in the evaluation of cervical lymph nodes.
-Scientific paper presentation at RSNA 2014 , Chicago(USA): T2 Relaxometry in MTS versus PET and video EEG.
-Scientific paper presentation European Congress of Radiology 2014/15, Vienna , Austria (under process) : ‘’Illusion of blue’’ – Ultrasound elastography to differentiate benign versus metastastic cervical lymph nodes.

Ongoing research activities :

Bone age determination from ossification of iliac creast using multidetector CT.CT guided biopsy Other achievements and awards : This college is having separate radiology epartments for both the hospitals i.e. GMCH Miraj and PVPGH Sangli with all modern diagnostic modalities including 128 slice CT scan machine , MRI scan , computerized radiography , two colour Doppler ultrasonography units. Image guided procedures ara routinely carried out.           Purchase for mammography compatible computerised radiography system , high end colour Doppler and DR system  is in process.
