Department of Biochemistry

About Department In Short- In this department students learn biochemistry as physiological chemistry first followed by clinical (pathological) chemistry which lays foundation of modern medicine for other clinical departments. The department has well equipped undergraduate and post graduate research laboratories. In Govt Medical College Hospital and PVPGH, Sangli the department caters the need of relevant Biochemistry Investigations for the patients in biochemistry Laboratory. The department also possesses well established library with adequate reference books.

Vision

  • To develop biochemistry department as a center of excellence in higher education, research and patient care ( laboratory services) by improvement of the infrastructure.
  • To start new PG courses like MD (Biochemistry).
  • To Implement quality control programme in Clinical Biochemistry laboratory used exclusively for patient care.
  • To create & develop subsections of clinical biochemistry laboratory.
  • Upgradation of clinical biochemistry laboratory for NABL Accreditation.
  • To Update departmental library.
